Royal Decree of Nader Shah Afshar
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
[Seal of Nader Shah]:
“Al-Ḥukm li-llāh, Nādir Shāh”
(“Sovereignty belongs to God, [I am] Nader Shah”)
Text of the Decree:
To the exalted and high-ranking Amīr Khān Tiyāmanī, Sardar of the Four Aymāq Tribes and their dependencies in the Seat of Sovereignty (Dār al-Salṭana) of Herat, and his esteemed associate Muṣṭafā Beg Durrānī, who are honored by royal favor:Let it be known that regarding the petition of the Sayyids of Anah, residents of the Tiyamani districts, concerning their ancestral lands: We hereby decree: All lands and properties historically owned by the Sayyids—as evidenced by their legal deeds (tamassukāt), documents (asnād), and certified records (arqām)—shall be restored to their possession for cultivation and management. Their dues for the current fiscal year (māliya dawrānī) shall be in accordance with prior custom. The Tiyamani, Mughal, and neighboring tribes are strictly forbidden from encroaching upon these lands or harassing the Sayyids. Our appointed officials (ma’mūrān) shall ensure compliance with this order.
